Yardley Riverside Garden
The Spearhead Project Earth team is excited to announce a new Yardley, Pennsylvania project funded by a generous $10,000 grant from American Water's Environmental Grant Program. This grant will be instrumental in revitalizing a hidden gem located next to the Veterans Memorial at the intersection of Afton and Delaware Ave in Yardley Borough. Our primary objective is to enhance this public access point first by cleaning up recyclables, trash, and debris. Thus, making this location more enjoyable for the entire community while also addressing the erosion issue caused by the watershed with the introduction of native plants. We aim to reduce the water runoff by utilizing the plants' root systems to absorb water into the ground versus over the ground, mitigating further erosion of this scenic location. In addition to landscaping efforts, we plan to install a new trash/ recycling bin to tackle the problem of litter accumulation. Furthermore, a handrail will be added next to the steps to improve accessibility to this spot, ensuring that it remains an inviting space for all visitors. Additional seating will also be added to the area so that more people can relax and enjoy a beautiful view of the Delaware River.

We’re excited to celebrate the success of last year’s ribbon-cutting ceremony! With a fantastic turnout, we’re grateful to everyone who attended. Our inspiring speakers highlighted the impact of single-use plastics, trash, and stormwater runoff, reinforcing the urgency of protecting our environment.
A huge thank you to the volunteers who joined us from April 6th–10th and May 18th–19th. Your efforts—removing trash and invasive plants, tending the garden, and planting native species—made a real difference and helped set the stage for our event.
